Looking for a fun and rewarding activity to enjoy with your dog? Join us for a relaxed 2/2.5-hour introduction to truffle hunting, where dogs of any age, breed, or experience level can discover the exciting world of scent work. This workshop is all about having fun together while tapping into your dog's natural ability to sniff, search, and problem-solve. Using positive, reward-based training, we'll introduce your dog to the scent of truffle and guide them through a series of exercises designed to build enthusiasm, confidence, and searching skills. Throughout the session, you and your dog will learn how to: • Recognise and search for truffle scent using Truffle Oil • Develop a clear indication behaviour to tell you when the scent has been found • Understand the foundations of truffle hunting training • Work as a team and strengthen your bond through scent-based activities We'll start with simple scent recognition exercises before progressing to structured searches. As your dog's confidence grows, we'll help them learn how to communicate a find through a trained indication, an essential skill for any truffle hunter. By the end of the workshop, you'll put your new skills to the test with the exciting challenge of testing their new skills and searching for a real truffle. No previous scent work experience is needed, and there is no expectation that your dog already knows how to search. The workshop is designed specifically for beginners and focuses on making learning enjoyable for both dogs and handlers, although previous ScentWork students are also welcome to attend, there just may be a little bit of repetition! Whether you're interested in exploring a new hobby, providing enrichment for your dog, or simply spending quality time together, this workshop offers a unique and memorable day out in the beautiful Surrey countryside.
